Datong Dali Hiking

Dig deep into the local culture   National park permit
Accommodation included   Two meals included

Datong and Dali are two indigenous villages located within Taroko National Park. Due to its remote location, the villagers are able to keep their culture and life in the original state. There are about 12 households remaining in Datong and Dali, most of their descendants are either away for education or working in the city. Therefore, people who chose to stay help and treat each other like family in this tranquil settlement. Datong and Dali are self-sufficient and are isolated from the city, so you will find most of the modern inventions are off no use here at Datong and Dali. Instead, people are more connected by this inconvenient lifestyle. You will retrieve the purest emotion sharing with their life stories in front of campfire, and feel asleep in the starry and peaceful mountain.

FAQ (must read)

The hike on the first day is not easy and certainly not relaxing. The hiking duration is about 6 hours (up) on the first day, and 4 hours (down) on the second. If your are not fit and physically capable of long hikes, we do not suggest it.
You will sleep in dorm room. Sharing the space with others is possible. Due to its remote location and lack of infrastructure, it means the quality of accommodation will not be comparable to the ones in the city. But the view and the starry night at the accommodation will make you fall in love with this place.
The life up there is not easy for the villagers because of the lack of electricity and bad cell phone signal. It may cause some inconvenience for some visitors, but it’s at this moment that you are able to get rid of your cell phone, email and social media. The purpose of visiting here is to find the pure happiness with nature and the people. It’s not a luxury tour, so we hope you are able to understand it before signing up the tour.
The tour will still proceed unless we deem it unsafe (full refund). We will do our best to satisfy you as this is our first priority.
