If you are looking for some challenges and take your tour in Taroko Gorge to the next level, Zhuilu Old Trail is definitely where you should visit. It’s a trail in between Swallow Grotto and Cimu Bridge, visitors are allowed to walking on the cliff path to have an astonishing view of the gorge. Our tour guide is able to keep you company to explain the history and take great pictures at the best shooting spots. There is a daily limit on the number of visitors, and it requires permits for hiking this incredible trail. MeetMyGuide is able to provide all the required items upon your request.

Itinerary


From the trail


  • Connector.

    0 km: Zhuilu Suspension Bridge

    Green long suspension bridge above Liwu river, giving you an unique perspective to the gorge. Exclusive to the hikers only.

  • Connector.

    1 km: Badagang Outpost

    Historic aboriginal settlement. It used to be the biggest Japanese checkpoint in Zhuilu Old Trail.

  • Connector.

    1.2 km: Badagang Suspension Bridge

    Another suspension bridge where travellers rest. It’s enjoyable to stand/sit on the bridge for the breeze and the view down to the gorge.

  • Connector.

    2.4 km: Zhuilu Old Trail Cliff Path

    From here it begins with the highlight of the tour. A long and narrow path on the edge of the cliff. The view up here is simple astonishing.

    Swallow Grotto

    The most well known attraction in Taroko National Park. From here you are able to see how the erosion separated the mountain to form the greatest marble gorge in Asia.

FAQ (must read)


A private tour means there’s no other participants in your group. If you are a serious photographer/videographer and hope to take much more time shooting the scenery. We suggest to upgrade to a private tour for more flexibility.
If you sign up any available date with us, we will run the tour no matter if it’s just 1 participant. We understand that you do not like to see your tour cancelled in the last minute due to there are not enough participants. This affect your itinerary in Taiwan, and this is the last thing we’d like to see. Therefore, we do not have minimum participant number to run this tour.

Yes. If you are interested in Zhuilu Old Trail, it’s necessary to sign up the tour as soon as possible because the national park has daily capacity on the number of visitors. The permits are always popular, if we don’t apply until the last minute, it’s unlikely to secure the permits.
You will need to provide the following information from each of the participants:
-first and last name,

-gender,
-date of birth,
-passport number,
-contact number
 
Well, some think it’s easy and some think it’s not. It all depends on your fitness level. If you have regular exercise, you will be able to complete it. There are many places to take rest and catch your breath, and we do not rush the tour. There are many people who are at their 60s and still able to do it. If you think you can do it, then it’s no problem. It’s just a matter of time.
Zhuilu Old Trail is a well maintained trail with clear path to follow. You are required to wear safety helmet when you get to the cliff path. Just remember to watch your step and pay attention to the change of the trail. Make sure your steps are clear and do not shoot photos or record videos while you are walking. Please note that there’s always potential risk involved in every activity, so we can only minimize the risk.
The full length is about 10.3 kilometres, and the half length is about 6.2 kilometres. Unfortunately, it’s not available to do full length due to parts of the trail were seriously damaged by typhoons two years ago. Despite given this situation of its unavailability, we can still proceed with half length. It still covers the highlight of cliff path where everyone comes for.
